FAQ’s

Do I need a referral to see a Myotherapist?

No not at all. Although many Doctors and GP’s do refer for our expertise, a referral is not necessary.

Can I claim my Myotherapy appointment with my private health insurance?

Yes! Most major health funds do recognise Myotherapy. Myotherapy falls under the ‘extras’ category and most people can claim if they have this level of cover. Please note, amounts covered will vary from fund to fund.

When should I go to a Myotherapist?

Most people attend a Myotherapy appointment if they are experiencing pain that last for longer than 12hours or if they have injured themselves at home or playing sport. People also attend if they are feeling something ‘irregular’ in their body and would like to have it checked.

How often should I see a Myotherapist?

This differs from person to person. After your initial consultation your practitioner will recommend a schedule that will be appropriate for you and your individual circumstance. Most wellness-minded individual prefer to see a Myotherapist on a 4-6weekly cycle for maintenance care. People in acute pain may be required to attend each week to help reduce their complaint at a faster rate.

What is this maintenance care you talk of?

Maintenance is a stage of the treatment cycle where people are no longer in acute pain, but rather than waiting for their pain or discomfort to return they seek the skills of a Myotherapist to keep on top of things and catch little  ailments before they manifest into larger complaints. This saves both time and money for people by avoiding crisis-care appointments. Your Myotherapist will recommend a maintenance schedule for you if required.
